Well guys, I can phone it in for the next 2 weeks because this is probably the best I will look this year. My office holiday party was black tie (lawyers…so pretentious, right?) so I took full advantage of the opportunity to look fancy. I knew at a formal event – especially one full of attorneys – there would be a lot of long black dresses, so in an effort to stand out, I went for a short white one. I know a little white dress is usually more of a warm weather thing, but the texture of this one kind of reminded me of a snowflake, and I decided to add Santa-red shoes and lips. In other words, if you thought this was a summer dress…what the hell were you thinking?

I felt like a celebrity on an award show red carpet in this, so in that spirit I feel like I should give some credit to the people who helped me look so good: my wife for taking really great photos, my friend and stylist Brandy for giving me this braid crown, Rent the Runway for existing so I could rent a dress I can’t afford to buy, and Pure Barre for helping me get in great shape over the past 4 months! And my mom. Because you always have to thank your mom.

Covered-Up Confidence

I swear I’m not pregnant. It was just a gust of wind combined with a swingy sweater.

See? Definitely not pregnant. (Those Pure Barre classes are really paying off, too!)

This was last week’s Friday night outfit. Yes, as in Halloween. I know…I’m boring. But I figure my borderline Pentecostal outfit makes up for all the girls who use Halloween as an excuse to dress like strippers. (“I’m a mouse, duh!”) But wait – sexy shoes! Yes. But even those didn’t last all night. I wore them for a few hours, and then it started SNOWING. I wasn’t about to be the girl wearing open-toed shoes in the snow, so I changed into more substantial boots for the rest of the night. So yeah, the tiny bit of sexy I DID have going quickly disappeared.

But for the record, I still felt fabulous and confident. And what’s sexier than confidence, right? I think I heard Sofia Vergara say that one time, so it must be true. That Plain Jane doesn’t have much else going for her. Hopefully she at least dressed up special for Halloween.
