Well guys, I can phone it in for the next 2 weeks because this is probably the best I will look this year. My office holiday party was black tie (lawyers…so pretentious, right?) so I took full advantage of the opportunity to look fancy. I knew at a formal event – especially one full of attorneys – there would be a lot of long black dresses, so in an effort to stand out, I went for a short white one. I know a little white dress is usually more of a warm weather thing, but the texture of this one kind of reminded me of a snowflake, and I decided to add Santa-red shoes and lips. In other words, if you thought this was a summer dress…what the hell were you thinking?

I felt like a celebrity on an award show red carpet in this, so in that spirit I feel like I should give some credit to the people who helped me look so good: my wife for taking really great photos, my friend and stylist Brandy for giving me this braid crown, Rent the Runway for existing so I could rent a dress I can’t afford to buy, and Pure Barre for helping me get in great shape over the past 4 months! And my mom. Because you always have to thank your mom.

There are only so many occasions to wear a tutu when you’re not a professional ballerina, but I found another one: celebrating your recent marriage with all your friends. You probably recall the super exciting news from last week that my lady friend and I took advantage of the chance to get our marriage legalized in our (mostly) lovely state of Indiana. But since we did it at the clerk’s office on a Wednesday night, none of our friends could be there. Boo.

Lucky for us, our friends are pretty much the bomb dot com, so a bunch of them got together with us on Saturday for dinner and a sort of reception. We had 2 other friends who got gay married (or as I like to call it, “married”) last week, so it was double the celebration!

Our friend Bob even prepared a ceremony full of lots of mushy stuff, so both of us couples got to reenact our vows with our friends. Cute, right?

I included a couple non-outift photos from the night below. To my fellow Americans: enjoy your holiday weekend!
