I’ve been wanting a new pair of faux leather pants for a couple years now, and every time I try on a pair of real pants (not leggings), they’re always not quite right. And with leather pants, if they’re not quite right, they’re absolutely horribly wrong.

Then I read a bunch of reviews of the Spanx faux leather leggings decided to consider breaking my usual “leggings do not equal pants” rule. I mean if leggings cost over $100 then they frigging better be as good as real pants. I must say…I’m impressed. They don’t look thin in the areas where they have to stretch more, and they manage to stay nice and flat in the front instead of doing unattractive things to the crotchal region like most regular leggings and even some ponte pants. They’re not incredibly warm, but warm enough for the 40s at least.

Have IĀ convinced you to buy your own pair?! If you do, my last piece of advice is on sizing. They’re Spanx so they’re supposed to be super snug and make you look a little slimmer. I wasn’t so worried about the shapewear aspect (I would rather not fall down or pull a muscle while trying to put them on), so I went for a size small instead of my usual XS.

I tried to keep an open mind for year 2 of Indy’s mac ‘n’ cheese fest. Year 1 was sort of underwhelming, but the first year of anything is underwhelming. I mean, when I look back on 1985, I don’t think to myself, “damn, I really hit my stride as a newborn.” But I was underwhelmed again. There were long lines, still no organization, not a lot of vegetarian options, and leaky spots in the ceiling. They also tried to hand out forks via the “take one, pass it on” method. This time of year? No thanks, no flu fork for me.

Maybe I just don’t like food fests. I love eating, but not a lot at once, and I like to enjoy some ambiance, you know? And if you think I’m going to stand in a line to get a single bite of food like it’s 1930, you’re wrong. So instead, we’re going to start our own mac ‘n’ cheese fest: invitation only, at our house, with wine pairings. šŸ˜‰
