I’ve been wanting a new pair of faux leather pants for a couple years now, and every time I try on a pair of real pants (not leggings), they’re always not quite right. And with leather pants, if they’re not quite right, they’re absolutely horribly wrong.

Then I read a bunch of reviews of the Spanx faux leather leggings decided to consider breaking my usual “leggings do not equal pants” rule. I mean if leggings cost over $100 then they frigging better be as good as real pants. I must say…I’m impressed. They don’t look thin in the areas where they have to stretch more, and they manage to stay nice and flat in the front instead of doing unattractive things to the crotchal region like most regular leggings and even some ponte pants. They’re not incredibly warm, but warm enough for the 40s at least.

Have I convinced you to buy your own pair?! If you do, my last piece of advice is on sizing. They’re Spanx so they’re supposed to be super snug and make you look a little slimmer. I wasn’t so worried about the shapewear aspect (I would rather not fall down or pull a muscle while trying to put them on), so I went for a size small instead of my usual XS.

A couple weekends ago I was at Books & Brews with my lovely spouse and another friend when a magical occurrence…um…occurred. We found ourselves in the presence of a Bob Ross board game. Yes, it’s a real thing. And it’s called – wait for it – The Art of Chill.

Did we play it? You bet your happy trees we did. But here’s the thing: It was the. most. complicated. game. of. all. time. I started reading the instructions aloud but my throat got dry because it was more words than I’ve ever said at one time, so I had to pass it off to someone else. We did eventually get the hang of it, but we could only bring ourselves to finish one round. Turns out we don’t have the patience to chill as hard as the B-Ross.
