I’m not sure when I became such a fan of black, white, and gray, but apparently it happened. The brights-lover in me has been repressed, but don’t worry. I’m confident she’ll be back one of these days. For now, I feel like these neutral colors let me get away with wearing some more interesting pieces to work without getting skeptical glances from the suit-wearers on the elevator. Actually, I don’t know…I might still get skeptical glances. I have trouble noticing others’ reactions when I’m busy looking awesome.

Speaking of awesome, be sure to check out last week’s post on How to Wear Midi Skirts if you want some guidance on how to style a skirt this length. Another post you might have missed: this one, in which I thoroughly embarrass myself for your entertainment. Enjoy. I would really appreciate it if you pin a photo from the first post (it really helps my traffic!), but NOT the second one. K thanks.

I was telling a friend about Le Tote recently (you know, the clothes rental service I’ve been using the past couple months). I’ve sung its praises to many people, actually. Some of them ask me how I exercise the self-control not to keep (and pay extra for) the things I really like. It’s pretty easy. I might keep something eventually if it’s in my budget, but for now I just send it back, then log in to my account and select the “resend this piece” option.

This top was in my very first Le Tote box, and it was by far my favorite item. Look, I’m even wearing it in my welcome photo in my sidebar! So I told Le Tote they could send it again, and I was delighted to find it in my most recent box. Now I have proof that the “resend” option actually works. So if you’ve been holding off on trying Le Tote, I’m giving you one more reason to sign up. You can also give a gift subscription. Just a thought. 😉

Of course, it’s a lot colder now than it was when I first wore this top in September, so I layered a long-sleeved tee underneath. I wore this to work, so obviously I didn’t rock the floppy hat at my desk, but it did keep my head warm and my hair in place on my 3-block walk from the parking garage. Oh, and speaking of the long walk, don’t worry. I wore warm boots and changed into my heels once I got to the office. In other words, the amount of time I actually spent wearing the hat AND the heels was limited to a couple errands after work. But it happened, I swear, and it was the most fabulous part of my day.
