As you might remember, Tuesday was my wedding anniversary. And because I am the best wife ever, I planned a whole surprise weekend of fun for Kristin in Bloomington. In case you don’t know, Bloomington is the best college town in the universe – and more importantly it was OUR college town. If you ever find yourself in southern Indiana, you MUST go. But first send me an email and I’ll tell you everywhere you need to check out. I’m serious about this.

Over the next couple days, I’ll share what I wore and some of the fun we had, too. By the end you’ll probably be packing your bags as fast as you can to go to Bloomington. You should be, anyway. Actually, just stop reading now and start packing.

On Saturday I dropped Kristin off for some pampering at Massage on the Square, then sent her on a scavenger hunt around the IU campus. Then we went out for brunch at FARM, did some wine tasting at Oliver, and checked into our awesome room at the Walnut Street Inn. See how I’m planning your trip for you already? You’re welcome.

This outfit was from Saturday night, when we went out to dinner at the Trojan Horse and then went back to FARM for a cocktail. On any normal day, a plate of flaming cheese would be the high point. OK, maybe it was still the high point. It’s hard to compete with flaming cheese. But the other stuff was pretty damn awesome too.

Weekend Reading

I took the weekend off from outfit posting because I’m in Bloomington on an epic anniversary celebration! If you want to see what I’m up to, you can check out my Instagram feed.

In the meantime, I was picked for Independent Fashion Bloggers’ weekly Links à la Mode again, so for your reading pleasure on this lovely Sunday, here are all the other posts that were chosen. Some of them might even be as good as mine.

On a Trend Bender

Summer is actually the best time to play around with trends. You know why? Because summer is the the best time play around in general! With all the bold colors and prints, the great summer sales, and gorgeous weather, it’s hard not to get caught up in the spirit of going bold. This week’s roundup has wonderful links to get you in the mindset to try new trends, even ones you don’t think you’d look good in. We’ve even got a great DIY for leather shorts, if you’re crafty and don’t want to shell out the dough for a store-bought pair. And even if you’re not crafty, there’s a great guide to hitting the summer sales. If you’re anything like me, it’s too easy to get caught up in a good deal, so I need all the help I can get not to overspend. Anyway, here are the links for the week. Enjoy!
