Oh hey there. Just another typical office look. No big deal.

Well, in a way, it was an office look, but it was for my black-tie office holiday party this past Saturday. To those of you who voted and helped me pick out this dress: thank you! As you can see, it worked out pretty well. Left to my own devices, I’m not sure I would have picked this one because I would have been nervous about the low back or about the sequins being scratchy (they weren’t by the way). I probably would have gone with something that felt safer to me, but I would have missed out on this fabulousness! Thanks for saving me from such a tragedy. Every woman should wear a floor-length sequin gown at least once in her life, and now I have.

Since the dress was such a show stopper, I decided not to do anything really fancy with my hair or makeup and wore minimal jewelry. I didn’t need anyone’s votes to decide that, so I can take at least a little credit for this look, right?

I wore this last Sunday to do some Christmas shopping at some of the funky local shops on Mass Ave. I’ll admit I do most of my shopping at big chain stores, but when I want to give gifts that the recipient wouldn’t or couldn’t get themselves, I like to take advantage of some of the cool spots we have here in Indy (like Silver in the City, Homespun, and Best Chocolate in Town). Naturally, after shopping local, we had to eat local too! I had been wanting to eat at Bakersfield forever but my other half is the world’s pickiest eater so it took a lot of nagging to get her to go to a restaurant that doesn’t have mac n cheese on the menu. And wouldn’t you know it? She didn’t die, and she even liked her food. The queso is amazing, by the way. I recommend it.

Everything I wore last Sunday might have been from Target and Kate Spade and Nordstrom, but at least I supported some local businesses while I wore my shameful corporate goods.
