I read a NY Times op ed the other day called “Brunch is for Jerks.” Well if brunch is wrong, I don’t want to be right. I think the point of the article was that the brunch “scene” in NYC is just a bunch of rich, white kids who get drunk on Saturday night, then clog up all the good restaurants for hours on Sunday. I think brunch is a little less jerky here in the Midwest. We just like to sleep in and then have someone make us eggs and a maybe a mimosa, please and thank you.

This past Sunday, I put in some effort to make my casual brunch outfit a little more presentable than the pajama-wearing crowd. (Again, I’m not a brunch jerk.) And I only spent 5 minutes Instagramming my food before I ate it. (I’m only human, OK?)

  1. Hahaa, Man Repeller just wrote about that article too! Where I live, similarly to the Midwest, it is way less jerk-y. We just wanna eat, and wear something nice! haha. Also, in love with the dark color of that hat!

  2. is anyone else having problems with getting the new website to open on the most recent post? http://www.sarahsreallife.com beings me to the page where you announced the new site but doesn’t show me where to find the latest posts…. i might just be crazy and not seeing something but obvious but i have to click through twitter to get the most recent posts 🙁

    1. Hmm I’m not sure why that would be happening to you! I check my homepage daily and no one else has told me they’re having problems. What happens when you click on the big “Sarah’s Real Life” title at the top of any page? That should take you to the homepage, and then you can bookmark it. Thanks for being a dedicated reader and for having an awesome name.

      1. Hi, I’ve tried hitting the banner and it still brings me to “new cats on the block” it’s so strange I’ve never had this problem before. I can follow on bloglovin but there is generally a week or two of posts stored up in there and this is one of the blogs I like to look at daily. I’ll try and sort out the problem. Thanks for the prompt reply. I’m afraid I can’t take any credit for my name much as I enjoy credit 🙂

  3. Haha, I read that article too, and at the end I thought, “hmm, that’s interesting. Too bad brunch is delicious and I can’t stop won’t stop!” I’m loving the hat and the cute but casual sweatshirt.
