Have I mentioned how much I love Parks & Recreation? If I could only watch one show for the rest of my life, I’m pretty sure I’d pick Parks & Rec. Actually, it’s already pretty close to the only show I watch.

If you’re a fellow fan, I’m sure you’ve seen the Harvest Festival episode, right? Well, then you can understand why I was so excited to hear about a Harvest Festival right in my own city (Indianapolis, (lit-rally the greatest city in the world). There was wine, a plethora of pumpkins, and…AND… a mini horse named Lil Sebastian so my life was pretty much made.

If you’re not a Parks & Rec fan, well, now you know how I feel when people talk about Game of Thrones.

^Well, doesn’t that just look like a girl who’s not too upset to be another year older and be stuck with a very rainy birthday?! Yup, that’s me – a little damp and 29 for the third time as of last Saturday. I had a relatively low-key but great birthday weekend. It started out with mimosas and manicures at the Beauty Bar – a fun treat that I should really enjoy more often. (Well, there’s no lack of mimosas in my life…it’s the manicure part that’s a treat.)

Then we headed to the mall! My parents sent me a check and my lovely wife promised to let me pick something out at J. Crew. Plus I had to redeem the free birthday stuff I get from the stores where I spend all my money. August is that lovely time of year when all my shopaholic tendencies really pay off! All I have to do is spend a bajillion dollars the rest of the year, and I get $5 off at DSW. It’s a bargain, really.

I made out like a bandit. You’ll get all the details in this month’s shopping budget post, but the highlights were a pleated abstract print midi skirt (because I just don’t have enough midi skirts) that Kristin got me and a few goodies I got at the Kendra Scott store that just happened to open at my favorite mall on Saturday (happy birthday, indeed).

Then I recaffeinated myself, went home to change, and headed to meet a couple friends for dinner at the Northside Social. I had two tasty cocktails, a goat cheese and mushroom tart with fava bean pesto, and bread pudding with a candle in it! Hang on, gimme a second to relive that meal in my head…deep breath…exhale…

OK. Moving on.

That’s pretty much the end. We went home, put on PJs, and watched Netflix. 31st birthdays tend to end a little earlier than 21st birthdays, but I think I like it better that way. Strike that – I know I like it better that way. #oldladystatus
