After Monday’s somewhat daring ensemble, I kept things simple and classic for Tuesday. When I was a kid, I remember thinking that high-waisted pants were for nerdy middle-aged women. But that’s probably because my middle school librarian always wore these hideous floral pants with an elastic waist up so high that her boobs literally hung over the top.

Now that I’m older and wiser (and nerdier), I realize that as long as you’re not too short-waisted and you keep your pants under your belly button, high-waisted pants actually make your legs look longer and your waist look smaller. From what I’ve learned from What Not to Wear, these are good things.

P.S. For those who don’t get the reference, the title of this post is from the movie version of Confessions of a Shopaholic. Shortly after the movie came out, I found this scarf and couldn’t resist, but unlike the girl in the movie, I didn’t have to max out 3 credit cards to get it (not because I’m rich, but because this scarf was under $20).

Leather to Work? Yes We Can!

For the record, this is not real leather. But “pleather” paints a picture of crappy small-town strippers so I don’t like to use that term to describe my own wardrobe. I wore this to the office on Monday (where I work at a desk, not on a pole). I had already decided to wear this skirt, but all of my go-to “work tops” just seemed boring. Then I thought about my style pinboard on Pinterest where I have about a gazillion pictures of outfits I like. I pin photos and then never look at them again. It gave me this crazy idea – I should look at them. So I did, and I happened to spot one that included a vest. I’ll skip to the end of the story: I decided to wear a vest.

Sometimes you just have to find something that sparks some creativity. No more boring Monday! Huzzah!

Also, today Coco was all “hey take my picture for your blog,” and I was like “but my blog is about style,” and she was all “pretty please I’m cute” and I was like “OK.”
