Taking outfit photos everyday is rough this time of year. You other style bloggers know what I’m talking about. Now that the days are shorter and we’re off daylight saving time, there aren’t many windows of opportunity for photos. It was easier when I was in school, but now that I’m working 9-5 most days, my best chance is first thing in the morning. But not only are the days getting shorter, the temperatures are getting colder. Standing out in the cold with a tripod and trying to smile  at 7:45am is pretty miserable. Moral of the story is: I’ve missed a couple photo shoots in the past few weeks.

These were two recent outfits that I didn’t get a chance to capture day-of. But I really liked both of them (I’ve been digging black and blue together lately), so I recreated them on my day off this week! Unfortunately, that day the high temperature was 18 degrees. So I took the photos at warp speed on my dirty balcony. Here are the pics, in all their shining mediocrity. Save your judgment. My blog is having a casual Friday, OK? If you want consistently flawless photos, read Gal Meets Glam or Pink Peonies. And when you get tired of being sad that you can’t afford a Chanel bag in 6 colors, you can come back to me. 🙂

I felt oh-so elegant in this outfit. And I guess I wasn’t the only one who was a fan because I got a ton of compliments all day at work, mostly from strangers on the elevator (the good coffee is in the lobby downstairs, so I went up and down a couple times…don’t judge). I’m glad I decided to go with gray tights and bright shoes – it was a little outside the box, but I think more black would have led to different reactions. Like instead of “girl, I love your outfit!” I would have gotten “girl, who died?” In pink suede pumps, the only thing I could be mourning is the end of boring office footwear.

Although I didn’t feel like a widow, I did kind of feel like a schoolmarm in a period piece directed by Sofia Coppola. But I can totally live with that.
