Taking outfit photos everyday is rough this time of year. You other style bloggers know what I’m talking about. Now that the days are shorter and we’re off daylight saving time, there aren’t many windows of opportunity for photos. It was easier when I was in school, but now that I’m working 9-5 most days, my best chance is first thing in the morning. But not only are the days getting shorter, the temperatures are getting colder. Standing out in the cold with a tripod and trying to smile  at 7:45am is pretty miserable. Moral of the story is: I’ve missed a couple photo shoots in the past few weeks.

These were two recent outfits that I didn’t get a chance to capture day-of. But I really liked both of them (I’ve been digging black and blue together lately), so I recreated them on my day off this week! Unfortunately, that day the high temperature was 18 degrees. So I took the photos at warp speed on my dirty balcony. Here are the pics, in all their shining mediocrity. Save your judgment. My blog is having a casual Friday, OK? If you want consistently flawless photos, read Gal Meets Glam or Pink Peonies. And when you get tired of being sad that you can’t afford a Chanel bag in 6 colors, you can come back to me. 🙂

Isn’t it weird how there can be a simple thing you do every single day, and then one day you inexplicably forget to do it? Like putting on deodorant. Every day I shower, dry off, put on deodorant, and get dressed. But on this particular day I showered, dried off…and got dressed. I was sitting at my desk at work a couple hours later when I suddenly realized it. Not because I smelled bad, but because for whatever reason my brain finally caught up. Where were my personal hygiene instincts at 7:15 this morning, brain?! You’re the worst.

Of course, once I realized I wasn’t wearing deodorant, it made me nervous that I wouldn’t make it through the day without my oversight becoming obvious to those around me. And when I’m nervous what happens? I sweat. Awesome. It was a vicious cycle. Luckily, as usual I did a mediocre job of washing off the prior day’s deodorant so I think that got me through the workday without becoming a walking locker room. Once I put my coat on and turned on the heat in my car though…oy. Let’s just say this shirt is now in the laundry.
