If you’ve seen or heard the term “winter white” recently and you’ve wondered how it differs from regular white, allow me to explain. (I’m a #fashion blogger, so I know about these things.)

~White is the color of linen pants, whereas winter white is the color of a cable knit sweater.

~White is what a June bride wears, whereas winter white is what a December bride wears.

~White is the color of fresh daisies, whereas winter white is the color of freshly fallen snow.

~White says “I love Paris in the springtime,” whereas winter white says “I love skiing in Aspen.”

In other words, white and winter white…are the same f#@&ing color. If you want to wear winter white, just wear something white in the winter. These are the same jeans I wore several times during the summer with bright colors and breezy tops, and now I’m wearing it with plaid and quilted jackets. Winter white. I’m so trendy.

P.S. The beautiful, stately scene behind me is the campus of my alma mater, Indiana University, the most awesome school in the whole world. IU looks equally beautiful in white AND winter white.

Taking outfit photos everyday is rough this time of year. You other style bloggers know what I’m talking about. Now that the days are shorter and we’re off daylight saving time, there aren’t many windows of opportunity for photos. It was easier when I was in school, but now that I’m working 9-5 most days, my best chance is first thing in the morning. But not only are the days getting shorter, the temperatures are getting colder. Standing out in the cold with a tripod and trying to smile  at 7:45am is pretty miserable. Moral of the story is: I’ve missed a couple photo shoots in the past few weeks.

These were two recent outfits that I didn’t get a chance to capture day-of. But I really liked both of them (I’ve been digging black and blue together lately), so I recreated them on my day off this week! Unfortunately, that day the high temperature was 18 degrees. So I took the photos at warp speed on my dirty balcony. Here are the pics, in all their shining mediocrity. Save your judgment. My blog is having a casual Friday, OK? If you want consistently flawless photos, read Gal Meets Glam or Pink Peonies. And when you get tired of being sad that you can’t afford a Chanel bag in 6 colors, you can come back to me. 🙂
