Nothin’ Like Experimenting

I’m pretty sure I’ve tried wearing a cropped jacket over a long top before and it totally didn’t work out. It kind of looked like I was wearing pajamas, and then there was a fire drill at my dorm and I had to throw on the first jacket I could find before going outside in the cold. This is probably bringing back fun college memories, but my point is that my past attempts at mixing lengths in my layers just made me look haphazard and weird.

But I got my second Le Tote shipment (find out more about that here) the other day, and I was trying everything on to see how it fit. This shirt and jacket were both in the package, so I put them on together. Wait…what’s happening? These look kinda good together! And there’s not even a fire drill! So I put them together in an outfit the next day, meanwhile kicking myself for not experimenting more.

There’s a lesson in all this: Don’t assume things won’t look good on you until you try them. Also, check your smoke detector batteries.

I can tell fall is almost here! And it’s not just because it was cool enough this week to wear a sweater dress and boots. It’s also because I have a calendar, and it says fall is almost here.

It seems I’m not the only one who can read a calendar, because the “How to Wear Ankle Boots” post I wrote back in January is getting a ton of hits this month, after a summer of not much action. Clearly the rest of the world is ready for sweater weather, too.

When I wore these boots over the weekend (for another night of Bar results celebration), I discovered a little bit of dried salt from the last time I wore them in the snow – a not-so-pleasant reminder of what comes after fall. Ugh. Let’s enjoy it while we can.
