Man, I really hit my style stride in the fall. I mean there are plenty of spring and summer prints and colors and fabrics I love, but I just feel the most like me when it comes time for cardigans and boots and plaid. So I’m going to soak up the next few weeks, until we get to the point where dressing becomes more functional than fashionable. (This is the Midwest, and frostbite is not cute.)

Have a great week, everyone!

I’m not really one to use the term “blessed” because if there really is a higher power, I’m certain She’s far too busy to give two farts about whether I have a nice birthday weekend.

BUT.

I must say I feel very…let’s say…fortunate after this past weekend. I had a really great birthday, and I’m thankful my friends and family know what makes me feel like a queen for a day, even if it’s not what most people would consider fun.

Kristin surprised me on Saturday with tickets to tour the soon-to-be redeveloped historic Coca-Cola bottling plant in Indianapolis. I love art and architecture, so this was an even better surprise than if she had gotten me tickets to see Bruno Mars (who was also in town this weekend…wouldn’t have been mad about that either though). But who needs loud music and huge crowds when you can proceed in an orderly fashion through a building full of art deco details?

See what I mean? Not everyone’s idea of a good time, but this lucky lady got to have all kinds of low-key nerdy fun for her birthday. And she got to wear a shirt with little tassels on it while doing it. If you like nerdy stuff more than clothes, be sure to follow me on Instagram (@sarahsreallife) because I’ll post some of my favorite photos from the Coke tour over the next day or so.
