I tried to keep an open mind for year 2 of Indy’s mac ‘n’ cheese fest. Year 1 was sort of underwhelming, but the first year of anything is underwhelming. I mean, when I look back on 1985, I don’t think to myself, “damn, I really hit my stride as a newborn.” But I was underwhelmed again. There were long lines, still no organization, not a lot of vegetarian options, and leaky spots in the ceiling. They also tried to hand out forks via the “take one, pass it on” method. This time of year? No thanks, no flu fork for me.

Maybe I just don’t like food fests. I love eating, but not a lot at once, and I like to enjoy some ambiance, you know? And if you think I’m going to stand in a line to get a single bite of food like it’s 1930, you’re wrong. So instead, we’re going to start our own mac ‘n’ cheese fest: invitation only, at our house, with wine pairings. 😉

For those of you not from the Midwest or somewhere else with a cold climate, I should explain that here, 48 degrees and sun in January or February is the equivalent of 80 degrees. We frolic around without coats, open our sun roofs, and go out for froyo. (Actually, I didn’t go out for froyo last Sunday…what a horrible oversight. Won’t happen again.)

I figured I wouldn’t get to wear this top (which is called the “Sarah” by the way) until April, but when the opportunity presented itself last weekend, I took it. It was nice having a Sunday Funday with actual sun. We went out for brunch, went to the movies (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri is incredible), did a little shopping, then did what all hip young couples do on the weekend: hit up Trader Joe’s to get ingredients for our cauliflower crust pizzas. #TURNT
