Turns out picking your first-day-of-school outfit is just as exciting in 19th grade as it was in 4th grade. And here it is – my very last first-day-of-school outfit ever! It’s a pretty damn good one if I do say so myself. Just like my earlier days, I wore some new things (this adorable chambray from Kate Spade Saturday and nude ballet flats from H&M), and tried to incorporate some trends without looking like I was trying too hard.

And speaking of trends, I hope you already yelled at me through your computer for wearing denim on denim when I swore I’d never do it! What can I say? If there’s one thing I’ve learned in law school, it’s that every rule has an exception (and sometimes the exceptions have exceptions and involve a four-factor balancing test).

I guess I found an exception to my double denim rule: The rule does not apply when one or both denims are sufficiently girly such that the wearer does not appear to the reasonable person to be preparing to paint a house or other structure, including but not limited to office buildings, sheds, and garages.

I wish “Fashion Police” were a real thing, because then you would need fashion attorneys and judges, and I would be SO GOOD AT IT.
