This was it — the outfit that made me remember that I do still like putting on a little makeup and a blazer and looking casual-chic and vaguely French. I’ve enjoyed the last (gulp) year of ultra-casual, au naturel Sarah, but man did I really feel like me in this outfit. It felt good to be back, even just for a day.

If it’s still warm where you are, this is just an idea of what to wear tomorrow. But, add some pom-poms and this is also a guide to being a 50s cheerleader for Halloween. (I did not wear this as a costume…I was just born in the wrong era and gravitate toward retro styles.)

Speaking of 50s costumes, if you don’t get queasy at bloody stuff, I highly recommend watching Ratched on Netflix – the fashion is to die for (pun intended…the bodies really pile up).
