When I was picking out my clothes for another day of interning at the federal courthouse, I thought to myself: “Are these pants too…much?” But then I thought: “Why not go for it? Who’s going to judge me? Besides, you know, all the judges.” I stuck with my usual rule of a single statement piece (the pants are the statement, in case that wasn’t clear) with everything else more neutral and traditional. I think I’m pulling it off.

In other news, I finally got nude patent pumps! How I’ve gone so long without them I don’t know. I planned on wearing them for a special occasion (law school prom!) in a couple weeks, but I thought it might be a good idea to break them in a little first. I took these photos at the end of the day, and you can see a little angry spot on my right foot…it looks worse than it felt. I’m ready to bust a few moves in them soon.

I got this leather pencil skirt a couple months ago during one of Ann Taylor’s many extra zillion percent off super flash self-destruct-in-5-minutes sales. (They’re probably having one right now.) I finally had a chance to wear it this week. Once again, this semester’s internship gives me an excuse to wear some things that are too dressy for class.

I was inspired by a post on M Loves M this week to wear leopard print with this skirt. I was worried it might be – in Tim Gunn’s words – “a lotta look,” but I think this cream blazer kinda tempers it. For a conservative office environment, I try to stick with one statement at a time and then disguise it. Pretty tricksy, huh?

Have a good weekend, everyone!
