Day to Night: Hippie Edition

There are only so many hippie-centric things to do in Indianapolis in 2014, but I did two of them last Saturday: hit up the farmers’ market in the morning, then went to a production of Hair the Musical in the evening. I had purchased this very 60s dress a week before, so I figured why not make it work for the whole day?

If you’re in the Indianapolis area, you should go see Hair at the Athenaeum! There are still several more shows over the next two weekends. My other half happens to be playing trumpet for the show. That might make me biased, but only a tiny bit. She’s just one of many many talented people involved! So if you want to let the sun shine in, you can get tickets here.

I have a little something extra in today’s outfit post – a perfume review! It’s awkward, right? It’s like, “Hey guys, look at how great I smell!” Why doesn’t the internet have a scratch ‘n’ sniff function yet? I mean, someone in China should have figured that out by now.

FrangranceNet provided me with 2 perfumes of my choosing to review, and I went with Versace Yellow Diamond and Bvlgari Omnia Coral. I thought about it, and I figure the best way to tell you about these lovely scents is to describe them in my totally unprofessional vernacular. If you want to hear about top notes and bottom notes and eighth notes and whatnot, you can find that in FragranceNet’s product descriptions!

Here’s what you need to know. What I look for in a perfume happens to be the same as what I look for in a white wine: fruity and floral, but light and not too sweet. Both of these scents totally fit the bill! They’re actually pretty similar. The Bvlgari one is a little lighter, so if you have a very sensitive nose and you’re looking for a nice summery scent, I recommend it!

Since FragranceNet was so cool to send me these sweet sprays, I should mention that their prices are well below retail if you feel like buying any new perfumes (hint, hint).

As for the outfit, this was what I wore on the 4th of July. I’m a terrible patriot – not only can I not be bothered to wear red, white, and blue, but I’m also wearing Italian perfume. Whoops.
