January doesn’t seem to get much love. (Poor January…it’s not your fault.) But it’s the month in which I spend a lot of time at the movies getting myself properly informed for awards season, so I don’t really mind the post-holiday slump and gloomy weather. OK, I do mind it, but movies and fluffy coats help distract me.

This year I’ve seen 5 of the 9 best picture Oscar nominees (and hopefully I’ll have a spare 12 hours to watch The Irishman this weekend). So far Little Women is my favorite, but Ford v Ferrari was surprisingly deep for a movie about cars. Who else is excited for the “real” Super Bowl Sunday?! 😉

Sustainable fashion: come for the reduced carbon footprint, stay for the cheap designer duds.

OK, so secondhand Gucci still isn’t cheap, but for special occasions (like surviving 2019), it’s a splurge I’m willing to make! Not only is secondhand less expensive than buying new, but you also don’t have to worry about putting the first scratch or smudge on something fancy. Maybe I’m the only one who stresses about scratching a shoe, but it’s weirdly freeing for me to step out of the house in shoes that are already “imperfect.” I didn’t always think of used clothing this way, but I’m so glad I’ve changed my tune.

You know who else is glad? Whoever earned a nice commission when I bought her Gucci pumps!
