I called this my butch outfit. Plaid flannel, jeans, sneakers…just give me some wrenches and hammers and set me in front of a football game and I’ll be right at home. OK, that’s not what I did while wearing this outfit. I went shopping and to the movies. But I did see the The Revenant, which is definitely no chick flick. Like, it is seriously INTENSE. Five people walked out of the theater at the showing I went to. I made it through by watching the corner of the screen during the most graphic bits and imagining Leonardo Dicaprio saying lines from Titanic. Also, I’m just super tough, as evidenced by my rugged flannel shirt from J. Crew Factory.

I’ve now seen 2 of the 8 best picture nominees…remember my goal?

You guys. I have gone to see five movies since Christmas Eve in preparation for Oscars season. Well, one of them was Sisters, but the rest were all projected to be Oscar nominees: The Danish Girl, Brooklyn, Carol, and Joy. This outfit happens to be what I wore to go see Carol. If you’re in to longing glances, it’s a must see.

My goal every year is to see all the Best Picture nominees before they roll out the red carpet. I’ve never actually done it but I’ve gotten close. To have any chance of getting to see all of them, you have to start before the nominees are actually announced. It’s a little bit of a guessing game based on what movie reviewers are saying. Well, this year we were way off our guessing game, because only Brooklyn is nominated for Best Picture! I have seen ONE out of EIGHT. Ugh. Looks like this isn’t going to be the year.

But on the bright side, this is my new favorite sweater.
