I have four, count ’em, four pairs of drapey dress pants like these from J. Crew, and I have this sweater from Ann Taylor in two colors. I really don’t buy a lot of multiples, but it’s so hard for me to find non-jean pants that aren’t totally unflattering, and it’s also hard for me to find non-wool sweaters for my sensitive skin (I’m a delicate flower, dammit). So I stock up when it’s appropriate.

It just so happens that my drapey pants and cotton sweater are perfect together, so now I have like 7 more outfit options! Just promise me that when the next combination shows up on the blog, you’ll pretend it’s totally new and innovative.

Nope, that post title is not just the result of my cat walking across the keyboard. That’s a very advanced mathematical theorem, black and white squared. (It took me two tries to spell both “mathematical” and “theorem” just now, which gives you an idea of my level of genius.) I love mixing prints and textures, and the easiest way to do it is with two different black & white patterns. I have so many of these neutral pieces in my closet that I can just keep mixing and matching them in different combinations forever! Well maybe not forever, but calculating the number of options would involve doing more math, and I need to go work on my spelling.
