Earlier this month, I was doing some (admittedly) mindless shopping – it was part of a truly perfect Sunday Funday and I was on a sunny weekend high. I found this cute hippie top in the clearance section of Anthropologie and then happened upon this hat and realized they might look really cute together (plus, something about spending time outside makes me want to buy a new hat). I headed to the dressing room and the store associate Anita said skeptically, “I’m curious to see how that hat works out.”
What the hell is that supposed to mean?! She thinks I can’t pull it off? Hmph. I’ll show her.
So anyway, I went in to the dressing room, put on the top and hat, and came out to show Kristin. You know, the person whose opinion I actually ask for and value. But of course, Anita was out there too, and her unsolicited comment was “That actually looks pretty good!”
Um…“actually”?
I actually didn’t ask you, Anita. Obviously, I had to buy this hat just to show Anita how wrong she was. 😉
[On the off chance that Anita reads this: I know your comments were probably totally innocent, but it makes for a more entertaining story for me to imagine you as Regina George meets the lady from the store in Pretty Woman who tells Julia Roberts she can’t shop there. Also, I’m sorry you can’t pull off hats as well as I can.]
