You guys, this is a really important post. Everything else I put on this blog is utterly pointless in comparison. This time I need your help. My firm’s big holiday party is in 3 weeks, and I need to pick a dress! It’s black tie, and the theme is Casino Royale. Last year I rented a dress from Rent the Runway, and I plan on doing the same this time. There are so many great options, but this time of year, the good ones go fast, so I need you to help me pick! I narrowed it down to these four, all of which I love for different reasons, and all of which have some risks. That’s why it’s so hard to choose!
First, there’s the Catya dress by ML Monique Lhuillier. I love the color, and you know I’m all about midi-length skirts these days. The downside is it could be a little overwhelming on my frame.
Second, there’s the Award Winner gown by Badgley Mischka. ALL OF THE SPARKLES. The risk is that it could be too long on me unless I wear really high heels.
Third, there’s the Golden Blossom gown by Theia. I have a feeling this would be super flattering on me, but black dresses are very common at lawyer events, and I don’t want to blend in with everyone else.
Fourth, there’s the Alexis dress by Theia. I like that it’s subtly sexy, but if it doesn’t fit well in the waist, the cutouts will probably make that more obvious.
Oh, and in case you’re totally unfamiliar with Rent the Runway, it’s exactly what it sounds like. You can borrow fabulous designer dresses for special occasions (or no occasion, I suppose) for much less than the retail purchase price. You can rent for a 4- or 8-day window, and you get a “backup” size for free, which takes some of the risk out of the process. They also have jewelry and accessories. If you have any fancy holiday parties coming up, I recommend trying out RTR! If you’re a newbie, you can get 20% off your first order.
So…it’s decision time. What say you?
Please note that this post contains Rent the Runway affiliate links, so I will make a commission if you make a purchase from these links. However, I planned on renting a dress from RTR before I was approved for their affiliate program š If you’re a fellow blogger, you should join the Rent the Runway program too!
