This weekend was an experiment in polar opposites. On Saturday, the emphasis was on polar. I’m talking winter coat, see-your-breath cold. Then Sunday it was back to sunny and mid-70s and lovely.  Basically October got a little too excited about itself and went overboard. It was like a kid who just turned 16 and got his license, so he decided to take his parents’ car out for a joy ride and crashed it. Settle down, October. You are SO grounded. (Judging by our stellar 5-day forecast, it looks like October’s sucking up real hard now.) But the bright side of Saturday’s overzealous chill was mom had an excuse to go buy a new car. And by car I mean scarf.

You know how I’ve done those awesome “how to wear” posts on both ankle boots and midi skirts? Of course you do. They probably changed your life. So you must remember how in both posts I said the biggest challenge is not looking short and stumpy because both midi skirts and ankle boots can cut off your legs and make your proportions look wonky.

Look at me now, folks. Wearing both at once. A daring choice but I think it worked! How? My theory is that the vertical stripes on the skirt make me look taller, and the low cut on the boots actually shows my ankle a little bit so I don’t look like I’m wearing big boulders on my feet.

I wore my doubly daring outfit last Saturday to the mall and then to my friends’ housewarming party. They moved after we did but they actually have their shit together enough to throw a party. Meanwhile our basement still looks like we moved in last week. But I have a magical dressing room, so…I still win.
