If elastic waist shorts are wrong, I don’t want to be right. It’s pretty much the only way I’m able to find shorts that don’t ride up or down or have a gap in the back big enough to fit a spare pair of shoes. Not that extra shoes don’t come in handy, but…

These shorts kind of look like they could be pajamas, but the fabric is nice and sturdy so they pass as real clothes. I would get them in every color if I actually wore shorts more than 4 times a year.

This particular shorts-wearing occasion was an outdoor symphony concert and picnic, complete with table settings, sunflower centerpiece, veggie kabobs, enough cheese and crackers to feed an army, and approximately 10,000 bottles of wine. It was super classy, and then the night ended with us all dancing to Despacito in our friends’ kitchen. Elastic waist shorts are also great for dancing, as it turns out.

We had quite the non-traditional Independence Day. No BBQ, no fireworks. We started the day with a yoga class, had healthy breakfast at home, went shopping, went to an artsy movie, then went out for ice cream. I didn’t even wear any red (see above). That’s my way of celebrating my freedom – by doing absolutely nothing patriotic on the 4th of July.

But, we did have dinner at the Cheesecake Factory, and what says American gluttony better than the Cheesecake Factory (even though I had a flatbread and French wine, but who’s counting)? And guess we did play with sparklers in the front yard when we got home. Pretty much Miss America right here.
