You probably can’t tell in these photos thanks to the #goldenhour light, but my hair is very very slightly lavender. It was an accident. But let me explain.

I got a new purple shampoo from a brand I’ve never used before. For my non-blondes, purple shampoo helps get rid of the brassy color that creeps in after a few weeks post-highlights. It looks kinda crazy coming out of the bottle, but you normally just lather, rinse, and come out looking a little fresher. Normally.

Well apparently this particular purple shampoo is rather strong. I lathered (just once!), rinsed immediately, got out of the shower, and as the fog cleared from the mirror, it became clear just how strong it was. My first reaction was “Shit! I can’t go to work like this! I have to get back in the shower and wash with regular shampoo until it comes out!”

But then…I don’t know…I started to kind of like it. Everyone’s already used to my not-so-traditional officewear, so I figured as long as I wore it with confidence, I could rock it. Plus, once it dried, I decided it was so subtle that some people might not even notice.

And I was right. I went all day at work and no one said anything. I went from being pissed that I dyed my hair purple to being pissed that no one noticed I dyed my hair purple. Guess I’ll use more shampoo next time. 😉

P.S. It’s this shampoo if you’re looking to have a mid-30s crisis along with me.
