Memorial Day weekend in Indianapolis is funny for someone who has little to no interest in racing. While almost everyone else in the city was either at the Speedway or watching the 500 on TV, I found some better ways to spend my time.

First up: mini golf at the IMA. I know, I know, mini golf has “golf” in the name, and golf is allegedly a sport. And I don’t do the sportsing. I probably won’t make a habit of it, and I certainly won’t do it anywhere except the art museum. What made this quasi-sport quasi-palatable was the fact that all the holes were made by artists and had an Indiana theme. It sounds lame if you haven’t been but it’s great. I played a special version of mini golf that involved following almost no rules whatsoever, which also made it more enjoyable for me. If there was a family of 5 taking a long-ass time at hole 12, I’d go to hole 3, then 7, then whatever. If hole 11 looked too hard, I would just watch Kristin do it, and then kick my ball in the hole for good measure. Needless to say, I won. But we both bought t-shirts.

Second up was eating all of the food at The Eagle, followed (coincidentally) by my untying my shirt and letting it cover up my tummy. Finally, we went to see The Lobster, which is quite possibly the weirdest movie I’ve ever seen. And I’ve seen more than my fair share of weird movies. Anyone else seen it?  The message was not lost on me, but it doesn’t change the fact that it was quite possibly the weirdest movie I’ve ever seen. Almost as weird as watching cars go around in a circle 500 times.
