Taking Care of Business

I had to get my portrait taken at work this week for my official bio page on the firm website. So of course I put a little extra thought into my outfit, particularly from the shoulders up. Structured blazer: obviously. But I didn’t want to look like every other black-and-white-wearing floating head, so I came up with this softer but still serious look. I guess it worked because one of my coworkers (who didn’t know I was getting my photos taken) said I looked like I was about to take someone down.

THAT’S BECAUSE I MEAN BUSINESS. 🙂

Most of my lawyerly clothes are machine washable, but some of them like this jacket and dress fare better with dry cleaning. I might be fancy enough to have a bio page with a professional photo, but I’m not fancy enough to have my dry cleaning picked up and delivered. So in the meantime I’m perfectly happy to freshen this outfit up at home with Dryel. In case you aren’t familiar with this stuff, you can see my first Dryel post here. Without it, my nicer pieces of my grown-up wardrobe would either (a) never get washed or (b) end up shrunken or misshapen beyond repair. And nobody wants to hire a misshapen lawyer.
