You know what I really wanted to do with this dress as soon as I got it? Put it over a bikini, skip the belt, and head to the beach. But my beach vacation isn’t until the end of the month which might as well be in 10 years. As a woman of very little patience (when it comes to getting and wearing new clothes), I made it work for the here and now. What makes a tropical print dress totally office appropriate? I figured conservative navy shoes and bag were a good bet. I sort of felt like I was channeling some of the ladies in that show The Astronaut Wives Club. Have you guys seen that? It’s one of those shows that I half watch for the costumes but stick around because it’s actually a pretty decent show. I don’t know how realistic it is, but I like that it doesn’t over-romanticize the whole “house wife” thing. You can definitely tell there are some feminists on the writing staff. I dig that. Almost as much as I dig retro floral dresses and the beach.

  1. I’ve been finding myself wearing beachy prints to work lately too (mostly because I’m running out of things that fit me), but this really doesn’t look like it would be at all out of place in an office setting. And I love being able to get extra wear out of vacation pieces!
