Polo the Game, Not the Shirt

This was my outfit for my last day of vacation in Florida. I hadn’t worn this dress all summer so I packed it for the trip because I figured it was my last chance to wear it until next spring. So sad. But then again not sad because (a) I did wear it and (b) I wore it to a polo match, which seemed like a perfect occasion for this little ensemble. I feel like the specialness of the activity for which the dress was worn should make up for the fact that I only wore it once this year. Right? Good.

This was my very first polo experience. I knew nothing about the game other than it’s the sport with the horses and the sticks, and it was in Pretty Woman and that one episode of Gossip Girl when Serena runs away with the horse. I thought basketball was the only sport I liked to watch, but now I can add polo to the list! If you ever get the chance to see polo, you should do it. Even if you don’t know the rules (like I didn’t), it’s still interesting and pretty exciting at times. At one point, the umpire fell off his horse! I don’t know if that happens often but it was pretty crazy. I wanted to take a picture when it happened, but I was afraid I would seem insensitive if he turned out to be dead. Don’t worry; he’s fine. He got back on the horse (and not just in the figurative sense).

Anyway, I also went out and stomped the divots (like in Pretty Woman…awesome, right?), which is what I’m doing in the last picture. All in all, a great end to vacation 🙂 Any polo fans in the house?! Someone will have to actually fill me in on the rules sometime…

  1. I totally agree that the specialness of the event makes up for the one time wearing of the dress! I think the fact that it was Liberty London makes it even more appropriate that that event was a polo match. What a fun way to end your vacation!
