Taking outfit photos everyday is rough this time of year. You other style bloggers know what I’m talking about. Now that the days are shorter and we’re off daylight saving time, there aren’t many windows of opportunity for photos. It was easier when I was in school, but now that I’m working 9-5 most days, my best chance is first thing in the morning. But not only are the days getting shorter, the temperatures are getting colder. Standing out in the cold with a tripod and trying to smile  at 7:45am is pretty miserable. Moral of the story is: I’ve missed a couple photo shoots in the past few weeks.

These were two recent outfits that I didn’t get a chance to capture day-of. But I really liked both of them (I’ve been digging black and blue together lately), so I recreated them on my day off this week! Unfortunately, that day the high temperature was 18 degrees. So I took the photos at warp speed on my dirty balcony. Here are the pics, in all their shining mediocrity. Save your judgment. My blog is having a casual Friday, OK? If you want consistently flawless photos, read Gal Meets Glam or Pink Peonies. And when you get tired of being sad that you can’t afford a Chanel bag in 6 colors, you can come back to me. 🙂

  1. Your last sentence says it all! Thanks for keeping it real……and turning black and blue into chic instead of a bruise! Looking good.

  2. I love your sense of humor! It’s so true! A lot of bloggers have a budget for clothes that is too high, sometimes their whole outfit costs like $3000 or $5000. What surprises me is that they do not wear any item more than 2 times, there’s always a new coat, new pair of shoes, new sweater, etc. I love your blog!

  3. You crack me up!! I like these normal photo shots because you’re keeping it real!! And those blue & white shoes? Fab!!

  4. God, I really hate trying to blog in the winter. How nice would it be to live in San Francisco and have nice weather all the time (or at least not -20 blizzards)…oh, and having a few Chanel bags to start up a blog would be wonderful too. But we’ve done it before and we’ll do it another winter. Why? I’m not sure either.

  5. And that is why this is my fave blog. I can’t take most other fashion blogs seriously when the clothes/accessories are way too expensive. Keep up the good work! Loooove your humour!

    1. Aw, thanks Katie! But based on your comment and few others, I feel like I should clarify that GMG and PP are 2 of my favorite blogs. I read them every day and you’ll find them all over my Pinterest boards! The lives they show on their blogs, while they could potentially be real(ish), are nothing like my real life. Still, their blogs are beautiful and I love both their styles. I use them for inspiration all the time!
