I had to go pants shopping this month. Like…real pants. I made it through the past 3 winters with jeans because I was in school, but now I have a few months of cold weather business casual ahead of me. I have no problem with tights and skirts/dresses, but I have to have a break sometimes. But ugh…pants shopping. If you’re under the impression that finding flattering pants would be easy if only you were a size 2: go ahead and have another brownie. Being a small size doesn’t help.

And even when I do find a pair of pants that looks great in the dressing room, I sometimes find they lose their shape by the end of 8 hours at a desk. So that’s why I started my pants shopping with these from Target – at $28 they’ll let me experiment a little bit. As you can see, the knees did look a little baggy by the end of the day. I think I’ll probably have to wash them after every wear to get them back into shape. Still, the fit and length are pretty great, and I like the colorblock thing they have going on. Kinda like racing stripes! Which of course are so appropriate for my lifestyle. I think I’ll get a Corvette too. Who even cares about your pants when you’re driving a Corvette, right? A new car may be the answer to all my pants problems.

I’ve added a lot of new goodies to my closet this month (you’ll read all about that in the next Budgeting Bloggers post), but this jacket is probably near the top of the list. I fell in lust with it immediately when it showed up at Ann Taylor at a whopping $200. Well, good things come to those who wait, because I snagged this for about $80, including tax and shipping. And whaddaya know…just in time to cross “geometrics” off my list of Looking Lucky trends. From what I remember about geometry, it’s about shapes. And this jacket has like 200 squares on it. Plus there are a bunch of overlapping triangles in this necklace. Not to brag, but I totally got an A in geometry. I think it’s now clear that that grade was well deserved.
