When: July 20, 2021 // Weather: 70s // Real life: vacationing in Maine
I highly recommend starting a blog if only so you have an excuse to relive your vacations and pretend temporarily that you’re still on them.
I also highly recommend visiting the beaches of southern Maine! This was our first time there but hopefully not the last. People will warn you that the water is cold and the traffic is bad – both of these things are true but they shouldn’t deter you from going. I’ll also warn you that if you go during the summer it’s not the most budget-friendly locale, but if you can swing it, you won’t regret the splurge!
A few highlights for anyone who’s planning a trip to SoME (I don’t know if that’s an actual nickname for southern Maine but it should be): Taking a cocktail cruise to Nubble Lighthouse; walking the scenic Marginal Way (close to what you see behind me in these photos); relaxing on Footbridge Beach; wine flights at Coastal Wines; a day trip to Salem, Mass. for the witchy things; another day trip to Kennebunkport, with a visit to the Seashore Trolley Museum; lots of good food at Crew, Nikanos, and more; and a drag show at MaineStreet.
