One of the unexpected perks of working from home is that I’ve come up with comfier and more fun outfits that I might not have worn otherwise. Some days I just stick to loungewear, and other days I wear “real” clothes but with less concern for whether my outfit is professional enough or flattering enough. Sometimes I make up “characters” to go with my OOTD, like old Hollywood actress in a hippie commune, or French It Girl riding out a scandal in the Midwest.

What character is this? Glad you asked. This is Ronald McDonald’s sister, Ronda McDonda, who abandoned the family business to open her own chain of farm to table vegetarian restaurants. She didn’t make as much money, but she did wear a lot of loose-fitting blouses and maxi skirts. And that’s the true measure of success.

I’m so excited to show you guys this outfit. This is my absolute favorite dress to throw on for hanging out around my log cabin, churning butter, and refilling my kerosene lamps so I can stay up late knitting. Because in this fast-paced world of the 1870s, sometimes you just want to relax, you know?
