If you live in the eastern half of the U.S., you know that it was a wee bit warm the past week or so. Extreme weather often makes for a bit of a conundrum when it comes to picking an outfit. Do you forget about style and just wear whatever will keep you from melting into a little puddle on the sidewalk? Or do you sacrifice a little bit (or a lotta bit) of comfort in exchange for a cute ensemble?

On this particular occasion, it was evening and I was riding in an air-conditioned car to eat dinner in an air-conditioned restaurant, so it wasn’t such a hard choice. I kept cool in the shorts and flip flops, and this little cardigan-esque number is actually a very light silky material. I got it because I thought it would be a good summer alternative to a thicker cardigan or jacket – turns out I was right (I usually am).

So what are your thoughts on dressing in high-heat conditions? Leave me a comment. And don’t forget to follow Sarah’s Real Life (scroll down to enter your email or follow through Bloglovin’) so you’ll know as soon as new posts go up. You know you want to.

I went to see The Lion King last week! It’s my favorite Disney movie, but I had never seen the musical. If the tour is coming to a city near you, I recommend it. The music is excellent, but the real treats are for your eyes: the costumes, props, and choreography are beautiful.

Oh, and this is what I wore.
