You know what I’m a fan of? Silent auctions. They’re like competitive shopping. Much like red wine and spending Friday night at home in your sweats, silent auctions are something you don’t learn to enjoy until adulthood. If you haven’t participated in one before, I recommend it – preferably one that benefits a good cause. On Saturday I went to an art auction to benefit Indiana Youth Group, an organization that provides a safe space and programming for LGBT youths here in Indy. I snagged a really pretty print for only $40 and helped team rainbow along the way. And I had an excuse to dress a little bit fancy. If there aren’t any silent auctions in your future (so sad for you), a shift dress with metallic flats and tassel earrings would also be perfect at a holiday party!

I know you’ve been waiting for it, and here it is: the outfit I wore the day I saw Hamilton! OK, maybe this is one of those days where the outfit isn’t nearly as exciting as what I did while I wore it.

Back story on how we managed to get tickets to the most insanely popular musical in the world: Step 1: random good luck. Step 2: credit card. That’s pretty much it. We considered selling the tickets for a sweet profit but decided the experience was worth more to us. I can now safely say I have no regrets about our decision! Hamilton lived up to the hype and then some.

Most of the original cast is gone now, but the new people are no slumps. Like, I think they might have done some singing before. Maybe some middle school talent shows or something. George Washington was my favorite! Anywho, as fun as it is to just listen to the soundtrack, seeing it on Broadway is some next level shit. I absolutely loved the choreography (which can make or break a show if you ask me) and…I don’t know…there’s just something very special about being in the room where it happens. 😉

Now that we have the back story and the main event out of the way, here’s your sub-plot: When we were waiting in line outside the theater, Kristin noticed someone a few feet away from us wearing a fabulous leopard print coat and she gave me a nudge to show me said fabulous coat. I looked up and realized (1) that really was a fabulous coat, and (2) the person wearing the fabulous coat was Christina Hendricks. Yep, I saw Hamilton with Joan from Mad Men.

Again, no regrets. One more NYC post still to come – stay tuned!
