You know what they say…when you find something you love, get it in two colors. I loved my olive parkline dress, so I waited for another sale and grabbed it in blue.

There’s always been a lot of blue in my closet, but until this month (when I got this dress and a pair of suede pumps), there was never much cobalt blue. And I think I know why. I grew up in North Carolina, and even though I don’t have much allegiance to my home state, I will be a UNC basketball fan for life. If you know anything about North Carolina or about college basketball, you know the UNC/Duke rivalry is EPIC. So naturally, my love for UNC is accompanied by a hatred for Duke. The point of this story if you don’t already know: Carolina blue is like a sky blue, and Duke blue is pretty much cobalt. So I think when I see cobalt I subconsciously associate it with Duke. But I decided recently I shouldn’t let a stupid sports team steal a perfectly beautiful color from me. And that’s the story of how I beat Duke.

I’ve added a lot of new goodies to my closet this month (you’ll read all about that in the next Budgeting Bloggers post), but this jacket is probably near the top of the list. I fell in lust with it immediately when it showed up at Ann Taylor at a whopping $200. Well, good things come to those who wait, because I snagged this for about $80, including tax and shipping. And whaddaya know…just in time to cross “geometrics” off my list of Looking Lucky trends. From what I remember about geometry, it’s about shapes. And this jacket has like 200 squares on it. Plus there are a bunch of overlapping triangles in this necklace. Not to brag, but I totally got an A in geometry. I think it’s now clear that that grade was well deserved.
