One weekend last month we were killing time at the mall before a movie. It turns out I’m really good at killing time, but it also costs me a bunch of money. I managed to get 2 sweaters, a t-shirt, and earrings from 2 different stores in the course of about 20 minutes. But come on, how could I not get this top?! Stripes AND bows, all together in a nice cotton sweater for my sensitive skin, and under $60?! It’s a good thing we were on a strict timeline, because the high of finding this gem could have gotten me through another hour of shopping. So when you look at it that way, it was really a very restrained and frugal shopping excursion.

People (and by people I mean non-bloggers) seem to think I have a lot of knowledge about fashion trends. And to some extent I do, but people give me too much credit. Like recently someone asked me to confirm that it’s currently cool to wear shirts with holes in them. And I was like, is it cool for the over-30 professional crowd? Because if not, I have no idea, nor do want to. I mean, what could possibly be cooler than the over-30 professional crowd? Our LinkedIn profiles are totes on fleek.

The trends I do know about include flared sleeves and embroidery. Since I’m sporting both trends in one top here, I toned down the rest of the outfit. It’s a look that says: “I’m up to date, but I also used to have a MySpace account.”
