At first I questioned whether these shoes looked too “nursey.” But then I figured…anyone who would choose to wear pointy-toed shoes with no arch support, for hours on end without sitting down, while doing all the stuff that’s too gross for doctors to do, is probably too dumb to make it through nursing school. So, no, these shoes are not too nursey.

And even if they were, why should I say “nursey” like it’s a bad thing?! Nurses are basically saints. What, am I afraid people will think I’m caring? (Nurses, if you ever put on a stuffy blazer and ask “does this look too lawyery?” I won’t be offended. And yeah, you should probably change, because who wants to be mistaken for a lawyer?)

I’m tragically behind on blogging…this outfit is from nearly a month ago. But I’m on vacation this week (greetings from the Outer Banks), so that means I get to play catch up! Once upon a time, blogging was in fact a hobby that I did for fun, and not just something I tried to squeeze in on days I wasn’t working until 8pm. Not that I’m complaining. My job is fantastic and I love it and all my bosses are smart and wonderful and completely flawless and some of them read this blog from time to time.

Moving on. The point is, this summer has been incredibly busy — with work and play, including taking in a couple shows at Indy Fringe, when I wore this outfit. One of the shows we saw was Josephine, a burlesque cabaret dream play about the life of Josephine Baker. I don’t usually feel feelings at live theater (or just ever, really), but this one was very powerful. The show is touring around different fringe festivals, so I definitely recommend it if you can catch it!
