This was another one of my “networking” outfits, where I dressed like I was going to work so that I would blend in with the people I met with, who were (of course) wearing jeans.

I went kinda matchy matchy with the shoes, which isn’t usually my style. But when a dress already makes a big statement, I figure I don’t need to do a contrasting shoe. As long as I’m still living in the real world and not on Planet Fashun, this approach seems appropriate. But as you can see below, I can’t seem to NOT wear colorful accessories with this dress! Next time, I think I’ll wear it with a black leather jacket and black pumps.

On Sunday we went to the art museum to look at pretty paintings and then walk around the grounds and enjoy the fan-freaking-tastic weather we had over the weekend. The pretty paintings were part of a neo-impressionism exhibit. If you’re not an art nerd, neo-impressionism is the same as pointillism, which just means painting with a bunch of a tiny ass dots.

I already knew a little something about pointillism from my days as an art history major, but it was a relatively brief trend (kind of like bubble necklaces) so we didn’t spend much time on it in class. Sunday was a nice way to brush up on my knowledge! And you know what that means…now I have to teach you something to show off how smart I am. Don’t worry, I’ll keep it short.

Neo-impressionists used side-by-side dots of contrasting colors instead of mixing the colors. Then your eyeballs mix the colors together. It’s science. And it’s pretty cool. One of the most popular color combos was orange + blue. And would you look at that…someone’s rocking a dress with side-by-side orange and blue! I wish I could say it was on purpose, but I’ll have to settle for claiming it was my subconscious genius.
