(These pictures were taken in an almost empty park, so no mask needed, but I put it on for a couple photos just to show you the “full look.”)

I hate wearing a mask and I’m not afraid to say it. I try to think of them as a new fun accessory, but I forget all about that once the sweat mustache forms. I put one on when I have to and take it off as soon as I can.

But the important part is…I wear one, even though it’s obnoxious. And I am oh so appreciative when I see other people wearing them because I know what a pain in the ass they are (the masks, not the people probably). One day we’ll get to look back on this time and laugh and say, “remember when we all went around looking like bank robbers?” In the meantime, we can all stand in solidarity and annoyance together.

I am fortunate that I get to abstain from wearing a mask most of the time because I can work from home, get things delivered, and go outside without getting close to other people. But a couple weeks ago we took a little vacation up to Michigan and definitely got lots of use out of our masks! I’ll share more about our trip and what steps we took to stay safe in my next few posts, so stay tuned (and wear your mask, please)!

PRIVILEGE ALERT: I never thought I would be this desperate to get my hair done. I mean look at that. I don’t even remember the last time my roots were this long and I could put my hair in a real bun. (Don’t worry, these photos are from a couple weeks ago and I was lucky enough to get a refresh shortly after.)

I expect quarantine 2020 has taught all of us about adaptability. I’ve been pleasantly surprised to learn that I’m more adaptable than I thought I was. I am a creature of habit (I’m about 30% cat) and I’m most comfortable when I can stick to a routine – like getting my hair done every 8 weeks, going to OrangeTheory workouts twice a week, switching the desk in my office from sitting to standing at least every 2 hours.

In mid March when I suddenly couldn’t do anything normal, I was not a fan for the first couple of weeks. But then, I learned to embrace my rooty ponytail, I started working out in my basement to sweat out some stress, and I got in the habit of taking an afternoon walk to keep from sitting too long.

Of course, now the problem is that I’ve become attached to my new routine, to the point that I don’t even want things to go back to “normal.” So if anyone can teach me how to unadapt, that would be great.
