I’m usually not one to buy souvenir t-shirts when I’m on vacation, but I made an exception for this cute shirt from the High Line (if you don’t remember what that is, check this post).

I think the reason I don’t get souvenir tees is that every other boringly dressed person wears that kind of shirt with jeans and calls it a day. But – since it’s me – I had to find a cute way to wear mine. I came up with some souvenir tee-wearing guidelines along the way:

  1. Unless you’re just going to wear it as PJs, get a shirt that actually fits you. If you’re petite like me, check for kids’ shirts.
  2. Pair it with a bottom that’s not your typical jeans or shorts. Try something unexpected like a mini skirt or patterned cropped pants.
  3. Put a cute jacket over it. It will cover up part of the t-shirt’s message and make it more mysterious 😉
  4. Take the time to do your hair and put on lipstick. That makes what you’re wearing more of an outfit and not just something you threw on to go grocery shopping.
  5. One tip I didn’t try in this outfit: Pair your tee with bold statement accessories. See this other blogger’s look for inspiration!
  6. Another idea I might try next time I wear this shirt: layer it over a dress and maybe even belt it or knot it…sort of like I did with a plain t-shirt here and here.

Mixed Feelings

I’m having mixed feelings about this summer’s weather. On the one hand, I thoroughly enjoyed going outside without melting. On the other hand, I only went to the pool one time and the water was too cold to swim. Back on the first hand, it was nice wearing all my cute cardigans and blazers to my internship. And on the other hand one last time, it’s usually the dog days of summer that make me fed up and ready for fall.

Anyway, just as I was coming to terms with the fact that fall is almost here (I did go back to school this week, after all), it FINALLY got hot. Where were these temps when I wanted to play outside in a sundress? Instead it has to be 90 degrees outside when I’m inside studying. So I somehow have to figure out an outfit where I won’t die in the heat walking to the law building OR freeze to death in my law review office. (Did I mention I have an office? Baller status.) I’m patting myself on the back for buying this jacket in the spring. And I’m patting my mom on the back for buying me these shorts. My mom and I are the smartest people I know. The dumbest person? Whoever makes the weather happen.
