It’s that time of the year when, in my mind, I’ve decided it should be spring. But my Weather Kitty app (it’s where kittens tell you the forecast…don’t judge, it’s amazing and sometimes it’s even accurate) only gives me bad news.

The worst part isn’t that I’m cold – I’ve sort of gotten used to that. It’s that I suddenly hate all the gray and burgundy and flannel in my closet. All those purchasing decisions from September through February suddenly seem like the deranged impulses of a psycho who lives in a cave in Alaska.

Sigh. Anywho, the best I could come up with was mixing lots of blush with my black. I only have a few cozy pastels, so Weather Kitty better have some good news for me soon.

In another reality, I was born a few decades earlier, I married Gene Kelly, and An American in Paris was our real life, not just a movie. Not that I’m complaining about my actual real life. S’wonderful, but it’s a distant second to the waltzing along the Seine version. (Just kidding. Sort of.)

Luckily, my real and alternate lives collided earlier this month when I got to see An American in Paris on a big screen, accompanied by live orchestra. I don’t know how many dozens of times I’ve seen that movie, but this was definitely the best experience yet!

Naturally, I wanted to dress the part, so I wore an outfit from my alternate 50s Parisian closet, which, coincidentally, is quite similar to my regular contemporary American closet.

A million thanks to my real life spouse who paid to take me on this lovely date to drool over my first love! 🙂
