You know how people say that a great wardrobe has to have certain basic items that you can wear over and over again? Maybe I’m making this up, but I feel like I read it all the time. For example, year after year, fashion magazines and style gurus are going to tell you that every woman needs a classic trench coat, a cashmere sweater, black pumps, etc.

Well, at a certain point, if you have all the basics, there’s no point in buying more basics until you need to replace those basics. I’m at that point. So recently, any new purchases I’ve made have mostly been “special” or unique things that aren’t like anything else I already have. No one’s ever going to tell you that every girl must have a black shirt with a pink pleated center panel and studded shoulders. At least I hope no one ever does, because then I won’t feel quite so cool in mine.

20121115-115042.jpgI hope you guys aren’t tired of seeing this boys’ polo, because I am so not done wearing it. I just love it. So comfy, great fit, and it’s striped! I’m a sucker for anything striped. Or with bows. Or leopard print. Or mint. OK, I’m just a sucker.

I wore this for a day at the mall, but don’t worry. The majority of the time was spent sitting at Starbucks working on a paper that’s due Sunday night (11 pages down, 9 to go). The rest of the time was spent doing a little Christmas shopping. Pretty soon I’ll be knee-deep in finals and I won’t be able to think about Christmas until it’s too late to get everything done. Oy. I know there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, but the tunnel is really freakin’ long and curvy so I can’t quite see it yet.
