IT HAPPENED. I GOT CULOTTES.

AND I LOVE THEM.

Make no mistake, these are not the $15 jersey gauchos I rocked circa 2006 along with every other college white girl in the country. These are actually work appropriate and – dare I say it – sophisticated. I feel like this whole look is very Parisian. Oh la la. Bonjour. Croissant.

And make no second mistake, not all culottes are created equal. They’re everywhere these days, and I tried on several pairs before I found ones that worked for me. So if you want to jump on this very comfy bandwagon, just keep trying. The structured ones didn’t work for me. Flowy was the way to go. But I’m sure it depends on your own style and body type. I love these so much, I’m thinking about ordering them in another color.

Bon weekend!

People tell me on a regular basis that they love reading my blog because I’m funny and clever. (I never tire of these compliments. Keep ’em coming.) But sometimes I even impress myself. “Ikat Believe It’s Not Pajamas”? Come on. That’s an amazing title. Especially because in this outfit, I styled ikat print lounge pants for the office. Did I get away with it? Well, I wasn’t fired. It depends on your own office’s atmosphere and dress code, but I think silky, drapey, printed pants can totally pass for business casual. Here are my rules: (1) They can’t be too roomy, (2) Wear them with conservative, classy pumps, (3) Keep the top half pretty basic, and (4) Avoid prints traditionally associated with actual pajamas, such as cupcakes, superheros, barnyard animals, and astronomical objects with cartoon faces.
