If you’re tired of all my casual student outfits, today’s your lucky day. I did wear this to my Bar review class, but then I went to lunch with a former professor so I erred on the side of business casual. Considering what a busy bee I am, I think it’s appropriate I’m wearing black and yellow. And considering how my brain is struggling to keep a million points of law straight in my head, I think it’s appropriate I’m wearing mixed prints. Art imitating life…or something.

You know what they say…when you find something you love, get it in two colors. I loved my olive parkline dress, so I waited for another sale and grabbed it in blue.

There’s always been a lot of blue in my closet, but until this month (when I got this dress and a pair of suede pumps), there was never much cobalt blue. And I think I know why. I grew up in North Carolina, and even though I don’t have much allegiance to my home state, I will be a UNC basketball fan for life. If you know anything about North Carolina or about college basketball, you know the UNC/Duke rivalry is EPIC. So naturally, my love for UNC is accompanied by a hatred for Duke. The point of this story if you don’t already know: Carolina blue is like a sky blue, and Duke blue is pretty much cobalt. So I think when I see cobalt I subconsciously associate it with Duke. But I decided recently I shouldn’t let a stupid sports team steal a perfectly beautiful color from me. And that’s the story of how I beat Duke.
