I really thought I was smiling (convincingly) in these photos. Alas, my disdain for icy cold rain reads pretty clearly on my face. But with how hideously frigid it’s been the past week, I wish I could go back to cold rain. Sounds splendid.

On the bright side, I discovered this sweater looks a little more flattering with a vest (see it sans layers here).

I think my favorite way to wear fancy, sparkly jewelry is with a really casual outfit. There’s something very Parisian about it, and what do basic American girls like almost as much as froyo and Taylor Swift? Paris.

But really, don’t you love the certain je ne sais quoi of a plain t-shirt and jeans with a pearl necklace, or a big chunky sweater with a gemstone or diamond ring? Not a bad idea for a Thanksgiving day outfit, now that I think about it! That’s an outfit that says “I’m ready for a very cozy but very special occasion.”

Speaking of Thanksgiving, I really truly hope you all have a lovely holiday filled with lots of food and very little talk about the election with your radical uncle.
