One weekend last month we were killing time at the mall before a movie. It turns out I’m really good at killing time, but it also costs me a bunch of money. I managed to get 2 sweaters, a t-shirt, and earrings from 2 different stores in the course of about 20 minutes. But come on, how could I not get this top?! Stripes AND bows, all together in a nice cotton sweater for my sensitive skin, and under $60?! It’s a good thing we were on a strict timeline, because the high of finding this gem could have gotten me through another hour of shopping. So when you look at it that way, it was really a very restrained and frugal shopping excursion.

My lovely other half surprised me by getting me this dress for Christmas. I casually mentioned I thought it was cute, and she remembered and got it for me! And as if that didn’t give her enough bonus points, she also agreed to stand outside in January to take pictures of me in it. I tell you what, I am a lucky lady.

It’s a very prim and proper, businessy dress, so to make it a little more “me,” I decided to wear my hair down with messy waves and rock some ankle boots. I also think it would look cute in the spring with some brightly colored flats. How do you guys like to dress down an uber-professional dress?
